His banking career has included key positions in specialized departments of Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange and Treasury Management. He is the past Group Head of Strategy Management at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated in Lomé, Togo before retiring on December 2016.
He had earlier served as CEO of Ecobank Nigeria between 2010 to 2015. Prior to joining
the Ecobank Group in 2006 as Executive Director, Treasury & Financial Institutions of
Ecobank Nigeria, he served in various local and International Banks for 21 years, including
Citibank Nigeria where he attained the position of Vice President and Country/ Regional Treasurer and Former Afribank Nigeria PLC where he was the Executive Director
Operations and Technology from 2003 - 2005.
M.r Aku is presently the Chairman/ CEO of Marathon Group based in Lagos Nigeria. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of FMDQ OTC PLC, a Securities Exchange.
Other companies where he also served as director include Nigeria Interbank Settlement System PLC (NIBSS) and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).
